Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial experience in system architecture and design within consumer-facing technology environments.
- 5+ years of experience as a senior technical lead, architect, or equivalent technical leader driving direction and strategy across multiple teams or projects.
- Demonstrated expertise designing, building, and scaling highly available systems and platforms.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, infrastructure reliability, and multi-cloud environments.
- Strong ability to develop technical strategy and influence architecture and engineering decisions across organizational boundaries.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineering leaders and diverse technical teams.
- Hands-on engineering mindset with the ability to contribute code and participate directly in architecture and design work.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers, build technical alignment, and foster a proactive culture of reliability and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develop and drive a long-term roadmap and vision for enterprise-wide reliability, serving as a strategic technical partner across the organization.
- Design, implement, and influence SRE architecture, engineering practices, innovation initiatives, and reliability standards across multiple teams.
- Establish scalable incident management processes, evaluate incident response practices, and reduce operational toil through improved processes and automation.
- Develop and promote a reliability model that aligns with engineering teams’ ownership of their services while strengthening operational excellence.
- Define and implement production-readiness standards, emphasizing automation, configuration as code, proactive failure prevention, and reliable design patterns.
- Partner closely with engineering leaders and product engineering teams on architecture and implementation decisions for large-scale distributed systems.
- Promote blameless postmortems and organizational learning following incidents, using insights to improve systems and processes.
- Mentor and lead Site Reliability Engineers through technical guidance, servant leadership, advocacy, and knowledge sharing.
