Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid, current Pennsylvania state license to practice professional/practical nursing.
- Knowledge of principles and skills needed for professional nursing and patient care.
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients.
- Skill in administering a variety of treatments and medications as directed.
- Demonstrated ability to be confident, personable, and self-motivated.
- Capability of making rapid and clinically accurate decisions based on evidence-based practice.
- Basic computer skills and ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Perform general nursing assessments of patients.
- Reinforce prescribed medication regimes and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Observe, record, and report patient condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to the physician.
- Schedule appointments, ensuring preferences for emergency situations.
- Coordinate patient care with other providers, case managers, and ancillary services.
- Respond to and direct incoming phone calls, providing medication and treatment instructions.
- Update, review, and prepare patient charts.
- Educate members of the health care team on an ongoing basis.
