Requirements
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience, including 2+ years in a Staff-level or comparable technical leadership role.
- Expertise designing and operating fault-tolerant distributed systems at very high scale (billions of requests/events).
- Deep knowledge of event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, and highly concurrent services.
- Demonstrated experience in transactional domains such as billing, payments, or ledger systems.
- Strong understanding of idempotency, exactly-once semantics, reconciliation, and transactional consistency.
- Proven ability to improve system availability, performance, and throughput under production load.
- Experience with both relational and NoSQL data models for complex transactional workloads.
- Experience designing configurable or rules-based systems.
- Familiarity with production monitoring, SLOs, observability, and root-cause analysis.
- Understanding of AI-assisted development and mitigation techniques for LLM hallucinations.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end technical health of the phone billing platform, identifying architectural bottlenecks, reliability risks, and cost efficiency opportunities.
- Define and execute a technical roadmap focused on billing accuracy, reconciliation, observability, and operational performance.
- Lead high-impact initiatives from problem definition and technical discovery through architecture, implementation, and rollout.
- Design and evolve usage metering, rating, idempotency, reconciliation, and billing lifecycle processes.
- Drive the evolution of revenue and billing capabilities toward configuration-driven, rules-based architectures.
- Design and implement high-concurrency systems to improve reliability and latency across time-sensitive APIs.
- Strengthen observability, monitoring, and incident-response practices.
- Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers while promoting operational accountability.
