Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience in product design.
- 3+ years of experience managing product designers.
- Proven experience managing principal or staff-level designers.
- Strong product and design judgment with a focus on simplicity in complex B2B software.
- Demonstrable experience building or evolving design systems.
- Deep technical fluency to facilitate collaboration with engineering teams.
- Strong, well-articulated point of view on AI and its impact on the future of design.
- Exceptional communication skills, particularly in written communication and remote leadership.
- Ability to use data and customer research to inform design decision-making.
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with Product and Engineering leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a small team of experienced product designers as a player/coach.
- Set clear expectations for craft and ownership while maintaining high design standards.
- Manage the Help Scout Design System (HSDS) as a product, driving its adoption across teams.
- Define the point of view on trustworthy AI experiences and oversee its consistent application.
- Evolve design operating models, workflows, and tooling standards to improve efficiency.
- Partner with the Experience Leadership Team to shape product direction and roadmap.
- Allocate design capacity across workstreams based on business priorities.
- Collaborate with the Brand Design team to ensure consistency between marketing and product experiences.
