Requirements
- 5+ years of backend development experience.
- 2+ years of experience focused on data platforms and backend infrastructure for data-centric applications.
- Strong proficiency in SQL with production experience using PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with data streaming and event processing using tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pulsar.
- Proficiency in Python or Julia.
- Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments (Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Helm.
- Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for asynchronous work environments.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a self-directed, remote team setting.
Responsibilities
- Design and scale backend systems for data infrastructure, focusing on PostgreSQL models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and GraphQL APIs.
- Draft RFCs to lead technical design phases and feature discovery for complex components.
- Implement features ensuring data integrity, system reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with product, scientific, and clinical stakeholders to translate business needs into data platform integrations.
- Build and maintain operational dashboards, documentation, and tools to improve system ease-of-use.
- Own pipelines responsible for delivering dataset snapshots into the data warehouse.
