Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, tax, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in tax compliance and reporting involving federal and multi-state business taxes.
- Specific experience in unrelated business income tax within healthcare, government, higher education, or nonprofit environments.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, local, and international income tax compliance requirements.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal controls.
- Ability to research, interpret, and apply complex tax laws, regulations, and official guidance.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to document assumptions and methodologies to create defensible audit trails.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Experience with Oracle EBS and SQL (preferred).
- Knowledge of information reporting requirements including Forms 1099 and 1042.
- Familiarity with multi-state franchise, sales, use, and excise tax reporting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, reconcile, and file federal, state, and local tax obligations ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Support unrelated business income tax filings and review institutional activities for tax implications.
- Prepare, reconcile, and file indirect tax returns including excise, sales, use, and property taxes.
- Administer international tax compliance for foreign nationals, including Forms 1042 and 1042-S.
- Conduct compliance pre-audits, risk assessments, and maintain accurate tax records and internal controls.
- Respond to tax correspondence, notices, and audits with supporting research and documentation.
- Evaluate and improve fiscal policies, procedures, and internal guidance for organizational compliance.
