Requirements
- 8+ years in data engineering, including experience at a staff or senior IC level.
- Deep expertise in Snowflake administration, especially role-based access models and security.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Production experience with data ingestion tools like Fivetran.
- Advanced orchestration and pipeline knowledge using dbt, GitHub Actions, or Airflow.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and managing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Experience building the dbt developer experience for cross-functional contributors.
- Track record of building data reliability practices like freshness SLAs and incident response.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools and agentic pipeline design.
- Strong communication skills and a demonstrated habit of mentoring.
Responsibilities
- Own the role-based access model, including hierarchies, least-privilege grants, and scoped access.
- Manage Snowflake security, network policies, data masking, PII controls, storage, and cost.
- Extend the medallion architecture and Terraform-managed footprint, ensuring full separation of development and production.
- Oversee data ingestion through Fivetran and custom extraction processes.
- Own orchestration and materialization strategy using dbt and GitHub Actions, improving model performance and reducing latency.
- Build source-schema change detection and observability tools, including freshness SLAs and alerting.
- Define development workflows, CI, and testing standards for the dbt project architecture.
- Mentor engineers and analysts while documenting systems and setting technical standards.
