Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering with a focus on production systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience with production data ingestion tools like Fivetran.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as dbt, GitHub Actions, or Airflow.
- Strong technical knowledge of Snowflake including access control, performance, and cost management.
- Experience with dbt for incremental models, testing, macros, and git-based CI workflows.
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Experience building reliability practices including alerting, SLAs, and schema change detection.
- Experience with AI-assisted development (e.g., Claude Code, agentic pipeline design).
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder management.
Responsibilities
- Own data ingestion through Fivetran, third-party connectors, and custom extraction.
- Manage orchestration across dbt and GitHub Actions, optimizing materialization and model performance.
- Develop source-schema change detection and alerting systems.
- Establish observability including freshness SLAs, failure alerting, and incident response paths.
- Implement Snowflake role-based access, security policies, and PII controls.
- Extend medallion architecture and Terraform-managed infrastructure.
- Maintain development environments and CI/CD processes for the analytics team.
- Document system architecture and data processes as they are built.
