Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, statistics, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience as a data engineer.
  • 3+ years specifically architecting and operating production workloads on Databricks.
  • Deep expertise in Databricks Lakehouse: Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, and Workflows.
  • Advanced SQL and strong Python (PySpark) development skills.
  • Proven experience in lakehouse/medallion architecture design and data modeling.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and Test-Driven Development.
  • Knowledge of governed or regulated environments (e.g., SOX, HIPAA).
  • Familiarity with cloud data services (Azure preferred, AWS/GCP acceptable).
  • Databricks certifications (e.g., Data Engineer Professional) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines across the medallion architecture using Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, and Databricks Workflows.
  • Manage platform performance tuning, cost efficiency, and resource governance.
  • Architect and enforce data models supporting Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Databricks assets using Agile and Test-Driven Development.
  • Administer Unity Catalog, including access control, lineage, and row/column-level security.
  • Maintain SOX ITGC alignment through access reviews, change control, and auditable engineering practices.
  • Productionize Databricks-native AI/ML capabilities including MLflow, Feature Store, and vector search.
  • Mentor mid-level engineers on best practices and architectural rigor.
