Requirements
- Experience as a backend engineer with deep expertise in data systems or a data engineer with strong software engineering proficiency.
- Proven experience building or extending orchestration and scheduling systems at scale.
- Experience managing schema evolution and data correctness in systems with downstream consumers.
- Proven experience operating stateful stream processing in production (e.g., Flink, Kafka Streams, Spark Structured Streaming).
- Strong SQL skills and knowledge of large-scale data modeling.
- Solid computer science and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Ability to debug independently and drive effective root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in leveraging AI tools for engineering productivity while understanding their limitations.
Responsibilities
- Design and build the control plane for curated data lifecycle management including orchestration, backfills, retries, and recovery.
- Decide architectural ownership for datasets between models, services, or jobs.
- Design contracts between ingestion and curation layers for end-to-end reliability.
- Build alerting and data quality signals to facilitate incident-focused on-call.
- Write and maintain code across Go, Kotlin, Rust, Python, and SQL.
- Break down large systems problems into manageable, shipable work for the team.
