- Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools and high-quality code generation.
- Ability to operate with autonomy in a remote-first, distributed environment.
- Experience with data lakes and storage formats like Parquet, Apache Iceberg, or Delta Lake (plus).
- Background in product organizations where data is a core product component (plus).
Responsibilities
- Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions by modeling domains, defining interfaces, and making architectural trade-offs.
- Break complex initiatives into well-defined, actionable pieces of work for the engineering team.
- Drive high-impact architectural decisions and take end-to-end ownership of critical data components.
- Design and build systems for large-scale data ingestion, distributed processing, and data lake storage.
- Work across Go, Kotlin, Rust, and Python, selecting the best technology for the specific problem.
- Apply computer science fundamentals to manage state, failure modes, and scaling limitations in distributed systems.
- Raise engineering standards through design reviews, testing practices, and technical mentorship.
- Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to clarify requirements and define project scope.
- Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity while maintaining high code quality standards.
