Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit development and organizational communications.
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience working in social justice or movement building systems.
- Demonstrated success leading development strategies and achieving fundraising goals for multi-million-dollar budgets.
- Significant media relations experience with proven results.
- Exceptional writing skills with ability to create succinct compelling narratives.
- Experience supporting executive leadership with public appearances and speaking engagements.
- Proficiency in managing database software (CRM), Microsoft Office, and other relevant programs.
- Entrepreneurial posture with enthusiasm for creating infrastructure.
- Education in philanthropy or CFRE certification preferred.
- Experience with environmental issues preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive multi-year development and communications strategy aligned with organizational values.
- Develop the organization’s written development philosophy and operationalized guiding principles.
- Lead a culturally rooted communications strategy that centers the voices of Black frontline communities.
- Identify, research, evaluate, and manage funding prospects including major donors.
- Champion the research, selection, design, data migration, and implementation of an inaugural CRM system.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to support team growth and performance.
- Manage end-to-end lifecycle of grants, overseeing pre-award through post-award functions.
