Requirements
- Substantial professional experience in corporate and physical security across diverse geographic and political contexts.
- Experience working in the Global South is highly valued.
- Substantial experience in a leadership role involving risk management.
- Substantial experience developing, communicating, and executing emergency response plans.
- Strong networking and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize geopolitical trends.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to summarize complex information for an executive audience.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stakes, ambiguous, or crisis situations.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with subject-matter experts in threat modeling and contingency planning.
- Experience using digital security tools for maintaining secure communications at events.
- Written and oral fluency in English.
- Willingness to undertake moderate international travel (4-6 trips per year).
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an understanding of environments and challenges facing Wikimedia volunteers worldwide to define physical security best practices.
- Strengthen the Foundation’s enterprise risk management approach, including policy development and implementation.
- Lead risk and gap assessments by consulting with internal subject matter experts across technology, brand, operations, and legal domains.
- Improve organizational expertise in identifying and mitigating physical security threats to staff, communities, and affiliates.
- Lead risk assessments for Foundation-funded community conferences and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Create and implement emergency response plans for physical security threats, coordinating with law enforcement and external consultants.
- Provide crisis support and serve as an on-call point of contact for emergency alerts and incident response.
