Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience as a software engineer, data scientist, or ML engineer.
- Proven track record of building production-quality data processing solutions or tooling.
- Proficiency in Python, including array-based packages such as xarray and numpy.
- Solid understanding of foundational machine learning concepts, including statistical, traditional, and deep-learning approaches.
- Hands-on experience with physical world data (e.g., imagery, geophysics, sensor measurements).
- Experience in visualizing scientific data for domain experts.
- Practical experience with hardware, flight, space, lab instrumentation, or field-deployed systems.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders including geologists and data scientists.
- Ability to independently prioritize tasks and take ownership of large projects.
Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and maintain foundational scientific computing libraries for mineral exploration analyses.
- Integrate third-party and domain-specific tooling into a coherent, repeatable data pipeline.
- Build tooling to increase machine learning velocity, including rapid prototyping, experimentation, and simulation frameworks.
- Transform R&D efforts into robust, scalable ML pipelines and ensure model repeatability.
- Debug complex systems across boundaries, including third-party binaries and field-deployed instrumentation.
- Promote engineering best practices such as writing robust, testable, and composable code.
- Collaborate with data scientists, geoscientists, and engineers to innovate on the scientific computing stack.
- Participate in occasional international travel (approx. twice per year) to field exploration sites.
