Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis with deep understanding of cloud operations or architecture.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and optimizing cloud spend at enterprise scale.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and/or Python, particularly data science and reporting frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or Databricks.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures including containerization, serverless, and managed databases.
- Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, CloudWatch, or equivalent.
- Ability to design and build sustainable BI assets using tools like Looker, Mode, or Tableau.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD workflows for data engineering.
- Excellent written and visual communication skills for executive audiences.
- Comfortable maintaining documentation and data dictionaries (e.g., dbt Docs).
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive technical understanding of the organization’s cloud architecture.
- Map the relationship between architectural decisions and cost drivers to connect system behavior to spend.
- Identify cost anomalies and optimization opportunities across compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
- Build and maintain dashboards that provide engineering and leadership visibility into cloud cost trends.
- Develop high-impact analytics to provide visibility into engineering and customer operations.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to increase the use of business metrics and encourage self-service analytics.
- Help define and enforce cloud governance policies including tagging and rightsizing practices.
- Translate complex technical findings into clear, business-oriented recommendations for stakeholders.
