Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Linux packaging technologies such as Debian, RPM, or Yocto.
- Practical experience working with open-source communities, projects, and licensing models.
- Strong programming experience with Python, C, and C++.
- Solid understanding of Linux systems and the ability to work across multiple layers of the technology stack.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills combined with resourcefulness, initiative, and a willingness to take ownership of complex challenges.
- Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed environment.
- Willingness and ability to participate in in-person company events approximately 2–4 times per year.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement optimized Ubuntu integrations for the latest IoT, desktop, and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
- Work closely with technology partners to deliver high-quality Ubuntu experiences tailored to their platforms and requirements.
- Take a holistic approach to platform integration by contributing to technical plans, testing strategies, quality metrics, and overall system architecture.
- Act as a technical lead on customer engagements involving complete architectures spanning cloud, edge, hardware, operating systems, and applications.
- Help partners integrate applications and SDKs, build device operating system images, and optimize applications across Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server.
- Work across the Linux stack, including kernel, networking, virtualization, graphics, packaging, and application technologies.
- Contribute to open-source engineering initiatives and collaborate with globally distributed technical teams and external partners.
- Apply performance benchmarking, profiling, testing, and automation practices to improve platform quality.
