Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant employment law experience.
- Experience at a law firm advising on Canadian employment matters and handling employment demands and litigation.
- Called to the bar in at least one Canadian province (Ontario preferred) and in good standing.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian employment and human rights legislation.
- Ability to quickly get up to speed on multi-jurisdictional nuances.
- Excellent judgment and ability to balance legal risk with practical, business-oriented advice.
- Strong project management skills and comfort managing a high volume of concurrent matters.
- Clear, confident communication skills for distilling complex legal issues for non-lawyers.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Willingness to learn and adopt AI-powered tools for legal workflows.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day employment law advisory support for Canada and other international jurisdictions including the UK, Germany, Australia, and Singapore.
- Manage and resolve employment standards complaints, human rights complaints, and demand letters, while supporting litigation strategy.
- Partner with the People & Culture team on workplace investigations, performance management, accommodations, leaves of absence, and terminations.
- Draft and maintain employment agreements, policies, and handbooks across supported jurisdictions.
- Support key employment-related compliance projects and international expansion initiatives.
- Identify and lead opportunities to use AI tools to improve the speed and quality of legal advice, document drafting, and case management.
