Requirements

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in AI/ML, robotics, autonomous systems, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of people-management experience.
  • Demonstrated success developing and deploying real-time AI solutions for robotics, autonomous systems, or other mission-critical applications.
  • Strong technical expertise across core AI domains such as computer vision, reinforcement learning, and large language models applied to robotics.
  • Practical experience deploying machine-learning models on resource-constrained edge devices, including balancing inference latency, power consumption, and thermal constraints.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills to tackle ambiguous technical challenges.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the lifecycle of AI and robotics innovation projects, from research concepts and technical whiteboarding through proof-of-concept deployment on humanoid robotic platforms.
  • Own the success and delivery of an AI innovation portfolio, setting high standards for technical quality, execution, accountability, and measurable outcomes.
  • Direct research into advanced AI solutions for complex robotics challenges, including learning from demonstration, real-time planning, human-robot interaction, adaptive motor control, computer vision, and reinforcement learning.
  • Accelerate data-driven robotics development by combining teleoperation, synthetic data, and fleet learning to improve system capabilities, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and robot software teams to ensure next-generation sensing and computing capabilities are aligned with evolving AI architectures.
  • Lead, develop, and support a high-performing team of researchers and engineers through coaching, performance management, individualized development plans, and thoughtful hiring.
