Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- 11–15 years of overall experience, including 7+ years of relevant experience managing technology projects of increasing complexity.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices, including Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, and SAFe.
- Demonstrated experience managing technical teams, particularly software engineering and quality assurance teams.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize competing demands, work independently, and maintain strong organizational discipline.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to identify issues, manage risks, and drive timely resolution.
- Experience mentoring teams and helping them adopt or improve Agile methodologies and practices.
- Hands-on experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Airtable.
- Strong understanding of the life insurance and annuity industry is preferred.
- PMP, Scrum, SAFe, or other relevant project management certifications are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee multiple technology projects of varying complexity, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
- Partner closely with product management and cross-functional software engineering teams to align priorities, dependencies, and delivery plans.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans covering scope, timelines, budgets, resources, milestones, and dependencies.
- Facilitate dependency management, project governance, Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, planning sessions, and other delivery activities.
- Manage cross-functional project teams, including software engineers, QA professionals, product stakeholders, and other technical contributors.
- Communicate project progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions clearly to executives, sponsors, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Identify project risks and issues proactively, develop mitigation and contingency plans, and help teams resolve obstacles efficiently.
- Apply Agile, Scrum, SAFe, and other appropriate project management practices to improve transparency, collaboration, and team throughput.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and provide regular status reporting to ensure stakeholders have clear visibility into delivery.
- Facilitate collaboration across departments, geographies, external partners, and clients to keep projects aligned and moving forward.
- Support continuous improvement of project management processes, methodologies, governance practices, and team effectiveness.
