Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional experience working in teams that build products.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a security-focused role.
  • Experience driving significant security initiatives in a senior technical or product management capacity.
  • Significant professional experience using AI-based tools for security analysis.
  • Experience with technical tasks such as code review and software engineering.
  • Comfort using and learning command-line-based tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, staff, and communities.
  • Experience working with online communities, especially public ones.
  • Capability to manage diverse responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the Wikimedia Foundation’s product security strategy and organizational security culture.
  • Determine and drive priorities for an engineering team focused on security and privacy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, data scientists, and community managers.
  • Design and develop technical features to improve user safety and defend against bad actors.
  • Communicate strategically with Wikimedia community members regarding security and privacy issues.
  • Act as a conduit between the community and the Foundation.
  • Partner with department leaders to shape overall information security posture.
  • Stay current on online security developments, including vulnerability research.
