Requirements
- Exceptional ability to hire, manage, and develop engineering talent and leaders.
- Deep technical judgment with the ability to evaluate designs and architecture.
- Proven experience building and maintaining high-quality software with velocity.
- Experience operating in complex, regulated, or high-stakes environments (fintech, payments, or humanitarian response preferred).
- Point of view on AI-driven engineering productivity and capability.
- Strong cross-functional partnership skills and business judgment.
- Experience navigating trade-offs involving security, cost, technical debt, and user impact.
- Experience leading both modern product engineering and enterprise technology.
Responsibilities
- Define technical vision, architecture, and build-vs-buy strategy for scaling to $5B+/year.
- Manage workstreams including cash delivery stacks, legacy system migration, fundraising products, and emergency cash systems.
- Recruit and lead an engineering team, scaling from ~15 to ~30 staff members.
- Ensure system security, reliability, and data integrity for high-stakes financial transactions.
- Partner with executive, product, and finance leadership on strategic and operating decisions.
- Travel 4–6 times per year to GiveDirectly countries of operation.
