Requirements
- Master’s degree or higher in public health, epidemiology, informatics, statistics, or a relevant field (PhD is a plus).
- At least 12 years of experience in infectious disease surveillance, analytics, or public health emergency management.
- Full professional fluency in both English and French (written and spoken).
- Proven track record in public health operations and outbreak preparedness within the African region (experience with Ebola or in the DRC is preferred).
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing end-to-end public health information products and decision-ready outputs.
- Experience in designing and delivering capacity-building training programs for public health professionals.
- Proficiency in R and R Markdown/Quarto for data management, analysis, and automated reporting.
- Familiarity with DHIS2 is an advantage.
- Strong skills in systems thinking, design thinking, and technical mentorship.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of epidemic intelligence activities to inform decision-making, including development of automated data products and dashboards.
- Map existing systems, data, and decision-making needs to identify implementation priorities for Collaborative Surveillance.
- Provide technical accompaniment and mentorship to DRC country office staff to ensure analytical capabilities are sustained.
- Train staff and government counterparts on tools such as DHIS2, R, and R Markdown.
- Coordinate the development of workplans, budgets, and strategic reports for Collaborative Surveillance initiatives.
- Collaborate with global and country-level partners to streamline initiatives and evaluate program impact.
- Investigate and develop use cases for surveillance innovations including wastewater, multiplex serosurveillance, and genomic surveillance.
