Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in data governance, data security, GRC, or privacy engineering.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with modern data platforms (lakehouses/warehouses), SQL engines, BI, or semantic layers.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks like DAMA-DMBOK or NIST.
- Experience building or operating data classification, access control, or entitlement programs.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms and modern analytics technologies.
- Working knowledge of privacy and regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, cross-border data transfers).
- Experience supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, or comparable security/compliance audits.
- Ability to collaborate with engineering teams to implement controls.
- Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to operate independently as an individual contributor.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data governance policies, classification standards, and ownership models.
- Own data access governance across lakehouse and analytics environments.
- Partner with Data Engineering to implement technical controls, including access policies and schema restrictions.
- Establish data quality standards and monitor performance.
- Maintain data inventories, metadata, and lineage documentation for compliance.
- Evaluate data-related vendors and AI technologies in partnership with Security and Legal.
- Coordinate evidence for SOC 2, ISO 27001, and CSA STAR audits.
- Identify and track data risks within the Enterprise Risk Management program.
