Requirements
- 5+ years in data governance, data security, GRC, privacy engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years working with modern data platforms, SQL engines, BI, and semantic layers.
- Solid grasp of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or NIST.
- Proven experience running data classification, access control, or entitlement review programs.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms and typical analytics tooling.
- Working knowledge of financial services privacy and regulatory requirements like GDPR and CCPA.
- Experience supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar audits.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering teams to implement controls.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, remote environment as an individual contributor.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data governance policies, classification standards, ownership models, and exception processes.
- Own data access governance for the lakehouse and analytics stack, including entitlement standards and periodic access reviews.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering on technical controls like Ranger policies, schema restrictions, and service account management.
- Define and monitor data quality standards and maintain data inventory, metadata, and lineage documentation.
- Review data-related vendors and new use cases with Security, Privacy, and Legal teams.
- Support sensitive and cross-border data requests and ensure compliance with PII handling requirements.
- Prepare evidence for security audits including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and regulatory exams.
- Track data risks and control gaps as part of the Enterprise Risk Management program.
- Define guardrails for AI and agentic use of corporate data in analytics workflows.
