Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in actuarial pricing, predictive modeling, risk analytics, or a closely related field, with demonstrated ownership of methodology, strategy, or high-impact analytical decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong analytical and technical capabilities across SQL, Python or R, data pipelines, and data modeling.
- Experience with modern data tools such as dbt and Snowflake, along with visualization platforms such as Tableau or Streamlit.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor senior analysts or data scientists and raise a team’s technical standards through influence, coaching, and strong analytical practices.
- Ability to investigate complex datasets in depth while translating insights into clear recommendations for executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong business judgment and the ability to look beyond a single function, balancing risk considerations with broader commercial and organizational priorities.
- Relevant actuarial experience, such as ACAS or equivalent actuarial examination experience, is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with modern AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or similar technologies, with genuine enthusiasm for applying them to improve analytical workflows and efficiency.
- Strong empathy, humility, curiosity, and communication skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse teams.
- Comfortable operating in an environment that values ownership, experimentation, continuous improvement, and high technical standards.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the pricing methodology for risk premiums, establishing frameworks, validation standards, and guardrails that support accurate and defensible pricing across new and existing categories.
- Lead the risk strategy conversation with senior leadership, translating portfolio performance and loss trends into recommendations on pricing, renegotiation, program continuation, or exit.
- Develop decision systems that transform risk monitoring and analytics into actionable business processes, identifying opportunities to improve claims outcomes, premiums, and portfolio performance.
- Architect and manage the Risk Analytics data foundation, including data models, standards, pipelines, and the long-term roadmap built on modern data infrastructure.
- Establish technical and analytical standards that improve the quality, consistency, and scalability of work across the Risk Analytics function.
- Mentor Lead and senior data scientists, providing technical guidance, feedback, and coaching while raising the overall analytical bar.
- Promote AI-native ways of working by identifying practical opportunities to use modern AI tools to improve analytical efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Partner across business, analytics, data, and leadership teams to ensure risk decisions account for broader organizational priorities and commercial objectives.
- Communicate complex analytical findings clearly to audiences ranging from technical specialists to senior executives and other stakeholders with varying levels of data expertise.
