Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading applied research, program evaluation, or consulting engagements.
- Strong foundation in applied research methodologies with specific expertise in qualitative research.
- Experience developing research plans, designing data-collection instruments, and translating findings into recommendations.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience managing project scope, budgets, timelines, risks, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong client-ready writing, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to explain complex research and findings to nontechnical audiences.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior and mid-level team members.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in evolving environments.
- Highly desirable: experience evaluating utility, energy-efficiency, demand-side management, or customer experience programs.
- Preferred: experience supporting proposal development and business expansion.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of applied research and evaluation engagements, including research frameworks and data-collection strategies.
- Apply qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method approaches to evaluate program performance and customer experience.
- Design and oversee field research such as surveys, focus groups, observational research, and UX testing.
- Develop high-quality, decision-ready client deliverables, including reports, presentations, and executive summaries.
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships while identifying opportunities for account expansion.
- Manage project planning, budget tracking, risk management, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Mentor and develop team members in technical rigor and consulting practices.
- Contribute to thought leadership and represent the organization in industry forums and conferences.
