- Minimum of one year of insurance experience in underwriting, claims, sales, or related fields; alternatively, 3–5 years of underwriting experience.
- Knowledge of insurance principles, risk evaluation, and underwriting processes.
- Ability to interpret procedures, regulations, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate situations and make sound decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with personal computers, Windows environments, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate system-referred new business submissions, change requests, and renewals within assigned authority levels.
- Review homeowner and mobile home policy risks to ensure accurate data, appropriate coverage decisions, and portfolio integrity.
- Analyze policy amendments and determine whether risks should be accepted, modified, declined, or referred for further review.
- Communicate underwriting decisions effectively with agents, insureds, and relevant stakeholders.
- Process specialized data entries, bulk changes, and policy updates accurately within internal systems.
- Recommend termination of accounts when necessary after evaluating modification options.
- Maintain productivity, quality standards, and customer satisfaction objectives.
- Support employee training initiatives related to underwriting systems and procedures.
- Participate in special projects and ongoing professional development.
