Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in category management, supplier relations, defense, technical product categories, procurement, or supply chain.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent work/military experience.
- Demonstrated ability to translate supplier capabilities and market trends into practical customer solutions.
- Understanding of U.S. Government contracting, federal procurement processes, and contract vehicles preferred.
- Analytical orientation with the ability to interpret category performance and margin trends.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency with CRM tools, specifically Salesforce.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Self-driven, organized, and accountable with strong follow-through capabilities.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed for customer or supplier engagements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute commodity/category growth strategies aligned with organizational objectives and customer requirements.
- Create and maintain category business plans, strategic roadmaps, and market maps.
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert, providing product, supplier, and market intelligence to Account Managers and Business Development.
- Support major pursuits, capture efforts, proposals, and customer meetings as the category expert.
- Partner with Sales to identify customer opportunities and accelerate pipeline development.
- Conduct commodity mapping to identify whitespace, emerging OEMs, and market gaps.
- Develop sales enablement materials, category playbooks, and internal training content.
- Evaluate category performance and margin trends to recommend actions that improve profitability.
