Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in communications or journalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects involving a variety of stakeholders.
  • Scrupulous attention to detail.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of supporting organizational-wide change.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Understanding of the energy and climate policy landscape (preferred).
  • Established network of journalists in climate, energy, and industry (preferred).
  • Track record of pitching and publishing stories in top-tier media (preferred).
  • Experience with graphic design or data visualization software like Flourish, Adobe Illustrator, or Figma (preferred).
  • Experience with project management software such as Trello and Asana (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Project manage GEM’s editorial calendar, including timelines, contributors, approvals, and communications support for flagship releases.
  • Provide editorial guidance and maintain the quality, structure, and formatting of GEM reports and briefings.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Director and programs to identify, develop, produce, and pitch compelling media stories based on GEM data.
  • Write and edit communications materials including media pitches, press materials, web content, and newsletters.
  • Collaborate with Digital Communications Manager to align reports and data with digital strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Product and Data Visualization Analyst to develop data-driven visual content.
  • Support media outreach, track coverage and impact, and provide ongoing communications support.
