Requirements
- Approximately 8 years of experience in editorial, medical communications, healthcare publishing, content marketing, or agency settings.
- Strong experience creating or editing medical, healthcare, or life-sciences content.
- Experience working on client-facing, sponsor-supported, custom, branded, or content marketing materials.
- Familiarity with AMA style and a demonstrated commitment to accuracy, clarity, and detail.
- Strong editorial judgment to recognize unsupported claims and inappropriate sponsor influence.
- Comfort participating in client calls and representing the content function professionally.
- Strong project awareness and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience assigning, managing, or editing freelance writers or contractors.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented working style.
- Proven ability to define operational workflows and support team growth.
- Preferred: Familiarity with medical-legal/MLR review.
- Preferred: Experience building templates and quality standards for a new content function.
- Preferred: Background in ophthalmology, optometry, or broader medical content.
Responsibilities
- Own editorial production for client-related and client-adjacent content, from concept and outline through draft, packaging, and final delivery.
- Translate client goals into content concepts and deliverables that are accurate, useful, audience-appropriate, and strategically aligned.
- Partner with Client Services to manage timelines, client expectations, and project flow.
- Join and contribute to client calls, including brainstorms, kickoffs, check-ins, and content development conversations.
- Act as the assignment editor across the content bench and freelance network, sourcing and briefing writers and KOLs.
- Uphold medical-content rigor including AMA style, factual precision, and careful language.
- Protect the firewall between sponsor-supported and independent content.
- Shepherd works through medical-legal/regulatory review processes.
- Establish repeatable templates, workflows, and quality standards for the growing Studio.
