Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software development experience with strong expertise in Python backend engineering.
- Extensive hands-on experience building scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Django or other modern Python frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
- Proven experience integrating computer vision technologies into backend applications using frameworks such as OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar tools.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL or MySQL, with expertise in schema design, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Experience deploying, managing, and scaling cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, clean code principles, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based development workflows.
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience, including architecture design, code reviews, mentoring, and leading engineering teams.
- Familiarity with MLOps practices, model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Experience within biotechnology, AgTech, or related scientific domains is beneficial.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in a fully remote team environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services and RESTful APIs using Python and modern web frameworks such as Django.
- Lead the integration of computer vision models and AI pipelines into production backend systems, optimizing performance, scalability, and resource utilization.
- Design, implement, and optimize relational database schemas, queries, and indexing strategies to ensure high availability, data integrity, and efficient performance.
- Deploy, manage, and optimize backend infrastructure on AWS while maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable cloud environments.
- Lead technical architecture discussions, define engineering standards, conduct code reviews, and promote software development best practices across the team.
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and continuous feedback.
- Collaborate with machine learning, product, and engineering teams to streamline AI model deployment and improve production workflows through MLOps practices.
- Contribute to CI/CD automation, testing strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality software delivery.
