Requirements

  • Proven track record in building simulation, sensor-modeling, or computational-physics software.
  • Strong foundation in physics, applied physics, or electrical engineering (MSc or PhD preferred).
  • Deep domain experience in radar, RF signal processing, or electromagnetics.
  • Expertise in sensing modalities such as lidar, thermal/infrared, or electro-optical.
  • Demonstrated ability to validate models against measured sensor data.
  • Professional proficiency in modern C++ within a large, performance-sensitive codebase.
  • Ability to define technical direction and deliver on long-term roadmaps.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with researchers, engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Experience with radar signal processing and RF propagation math (linear algebra, radiometry).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment using Git and CI pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Set the multi-quarter technical roadmap for radar, lidar, and thermal modeling.
  • Build physically accurate sensor models, focusing on RF propagation, RCS, Doppler, and multipath.
  • Define metrics and methodologies to validate simulated sensor output against measured reality.
  • Model complex environmental conditions including weather effects using both heuristics and first-principles physics.
  • Set the standard for scientific rigor and validation across the entire sensor suite.
  • Translate perception failure modes into concrete, prioritized fidelity requirements.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to the engineering team.
  • Utilize AI tooling for coding and literature reviews to accelerate development.
