Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a heavily database-focused Data Engineering role.
- Strong proficiency in Snowflake (data loading, performance tuning, and warehouse cost management).
- Deep hands-on experience managing and tuning PostgreSQL databases within the AWS ecosystem (RDS or Aurora).
- Exceptional skills in query profiling, execution plan analysis (EXPLAIN), partition strategies, and index optimization.
- Proven experience building and maintaining data pipelines using tools like dbt, Airflow, AWS Glue, or Python.
- Experience using AWS Data Migration Service (DMS) for data synchronization.
- Absolute proficiency with Git.
Responsibilities
- Build, manage, and monitor efficient ETL/ELT pipelines to consolidate data from multiple production AWS PostgreSQL instances into Snowflake.
- Audit SQL queries across production systems to diagnose bottlenecks, rewrite queries, and optimize indexes.
- Oversee the day-to-day health, backup strategies, security compliance, and scaling of PostgreSQL and Snowflake environments.
- Partner with Software Engineers to review database schemas and queries before deployment.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for database performance issues to ensure minimal downtime and high availability.
