Requirements
- 8+ years building and operating production data systems, including technical leadership experience.
- Track record of creating clarity from ambiguity and setting direction for teams.
- Deep SQL expertise including query optimization, indexing, and schema design.
- Strong command of replication and ETL/ELT tooling like Fivetran, Informatica, or Airbyte.
- Working knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure data services.
- Proficiency writing and reviewing Ruby on Rails or a comparable language.
- Ability to define and defend schema contracts across cross-functional systems.
- Experience leading through production data incidents with a focus on durable fixes.
- Clear, direct communication skills to align teams around technical direction.
- Experience with and willingness to work with agentic AI coding tools.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for the team's pipelines, integrations, and datastores.
- Work with leadership to prioritize problems and translate broad goals into concrete work.
- Set standards for infra-as-code, schema contracts, observability, testing, and incident response.
- Guide replication pipelines using tools like Informatica, Fivetran, and Airbyte.
- Manage production Postgres databases, including query performance and indexing.
- Oversee outbound data delivery to partners and inbound file processing pipelines.
- Mentor engineers and participate in cross-team technical decision making.
- Lead incident response as the senior technical voice and drive systemic fixes.
