Requirements

  • 2 or more years of hands-on collections experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services industry.
  • Associate degree or advanced degree preferred in Business, Accounting, or Finance; commensurate experience accepted in lieu of education.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, specifically pivot tables and complex spreadsheet analysis.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of firm personnel including Managers, Directors, and Chiefs.
  • High level of customer service skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize high-volume tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience with ARCS, Star Collect, Aderant, or Elite billing systems preferred.
  • Resourceful in developing alternative solutions to meet collection goals.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and collect outstanding invoices through direct contact and follow-up with partners and clients.
  • Generate and revise monthly client reminder statements pursuant to firm policy.
  • Provide accounts receivable analysis reports including DSO, bad debt reserves, and key performance indicators.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and ad hoc reports for client needs.
  • Create projections for collections and adhere to client deadlines.
  • Prepare documentation for accounts receivable write-offs.
  • Assist in transitioning matters between attorneys and closing inactive accounts.
  • Research and monitor unapplied payments and payment arrangements.
