Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience designing, building, and operating production APIs or integration platforms for external partners.
- Proficiency in Python and strong understanding of backend system design and distributed systems.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Deep knowledge of API best practices (authentication, authorization, rate limiting, versioning, idempotency, pagination).
- Proven ability to independently lead complex, cross-functional projects.
- Experience building resilient, observable systems with robust monitoring and logging.
- Experience with Django and Django REST Framework is highly preferred.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with healthcare, benefits, insurance, or HR tech domains is a plus.
- Comfort using AI coding tools to accelerate development.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend systems, APIs, and platform capabilities that enable partners to connect with Vitable's infrastructure.
- Lead complex projects from discovery and technical design through implementation, release, and iteration.
- Define standards for API design, including conventions for authentication, versioning, pagination, and error handling.
- Create a world-class developer experience by maintaining documentation, sandbox environments, and testing tools.
- Collaborate with product, operations, sales, and customer success teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
- Build internal tools and automation to reduce operational complexity and improve partner onboarding.
- Contribute to frontend and internal tooling experiences to ensure complete product outcomes.
