Requirements
- 3–5 years of medical billing, claims follow-up, or payer resolution experience.
- Demonstrated experience working claims through clearinghouses and denial management systems.
- Strong understanding of CPT/HCPCS codes, modifiers, and ICD-10 codes.
- Familiarity with Medicaid or Medi-Cal billing requirements.
- Experience validating claims within an EHR system, with Ritten.io experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including filters, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for professional payer interactions.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple claim queues simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to completing the required application form and video interview process.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit clean claims for various service lines ensuring timely submission.
- Validate claims against clinical documentation, including encounter notes and service timelines.
- Monitor daily clearinghouse reports to correct and resubmit rejections and errors.
- Take ownership of denials and unpaid claims to ensure root-cause resolution and successful resubmission.
- Contact payers directly to resolve issues regarding authorizations, eligibility, and coding.
- Cross-check claims against EHR encounters to ensure documentation supports billed services.
- Maintain billing logs, denial trackers, and A/R aging reports.
- Collaborate with care teams and Authorization Specialists to ensure billing compliance.
