Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience managing or litigating complex construction defect commercial liability claims.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance claims processes, construction defect matters, liability assessment, and legal principles.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate complex claims, evaluate coverage issues, and develop resolution strategies.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes while maintaining productive relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt effectively to changing situations.
- Strong computer skills and experience working with digital claims management systems.
- Active adjuster license in the applicable home state is preferred.
- CPCU designation, AIC certification, or similar professional insurance credentials are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex commercial construction defect claims, ensuring accurate evaluation, documentation, and resolution throughout the claim lifecycle.
- Identify construction defect claim exposures and establish appropriate reserves based on claim complexity, liability, and potential outcomes.
- Analyze insurance coverage issues, contractual obligations, and opportunities for risk transfer.
- Conduct and oversee thorough investigations into underlying facts, liability considerations, damages, and claim circumstances.
- Coordinate the selection and management of experts, consultants, and legal counsel when required.
- Develop effective claim resolution strategies, including negotiation approaches, litigation management, and settlement recommendations.
- Communicate claim exposures, risks, and resolution strategies clearly with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Build strong working relationships with insured parties, attorneys, experts, and other claim-related stakeholders.
- Participate in mediations, trials, and related meetings as needed, including occasional travel requirements.
