Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (relevant post-secondary education preferred).
  • National coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in physician coding, anesthesia/pain management, surgery, and E/M.
  • Experience with ICD-10 coding and academic settings.
  • Background in revenue cycle management and claim processing.
  • Experience in compliance auditing and anesthesia specialty coding education.
  • Strong presentation, analytical, and technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and state/federal coding regulations.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct coder QA and education as part of identified remediation.
  • Collaborate with management on the development of performance improvement plans for coding or billing issues.
  • Develop internal workflow directives that impact coding, charge capture, and system edits.
  • Prepare and present coding curriculums and regulatory updates.
  • Analyze coding data to support QA selection and resolve claim denials.
  • Maintain audit software, databases, and shared coding resources.
  • Provide documentation feedback and template improvement recommendations.
