Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (relevant post-secondary education preferred).
- National coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in physician coding, anesthesia/pain management, surgery, and E/M.
- Experience with ICD-10 coding and academic settings.
- Background in revenue cycle management and claim processing.
- Experience in compliance auditing and anesthesia specialty coding education.
- Strong presentation, analytical, and technical writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and state/federal coding regulations.
- Ability to travel as required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct coder QA and education as part of identified remediation.
- Collaborate with management on the development of performance improvement plans for coding or billing issues.
- Develop internal workflow directives that impact coding, charge capture, and system edits.
- Prepare and present coding curriculums and regulatory updates.
- Analyze coding data to support QA selection and resolve claim denials.
- Maintain audit software, databases, and shared coding resources.
- Provide documentation feedback and template improvement recommendations.
