Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field (e.g., English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing) from US schools.
- 1+ years of teaching experience in English and/or experience working in a college-level Writing Center.
- Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA).
- Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.
- Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction.
- Commitment to scheduled hours of operation including evenings and weekends.
- Experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.
- Robust understanding of classroom pedagogy and ability to create customized lesson plans.
Responsibilities
- Instruct small groups of students in English core skills to promote long-term understanding and high scores on college readiness exams (ACT & SAT).
- Track student progress through the company's multi-phase curriculum, providing individualized growth opportunities.
- Maintain and update student lesson schedules while holding students accountable for assignments.
- Model professionalism and organizational skills through timely communication.
- Spearhead the development and creative execution of evolving lesson plans and curriculum.
- Guide middle and high school students through the college application process with empathy.
