Requirements
- 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
- Deep knowledge of distributed and event-driven systems (consistency, ordering, replay, failure modes).
- Strong proficiency in API design and evolution (contract-first, backward compatibility, versioning).
- Experience diagnosing and fixing performance issues under production load (profiling, benchmarking, backpressure).
- Proven ability to lead technical work autonomously from ambiguity.
- Strong technical writing skills and ability to thrive in a remote-first collaborative environment.
- Experience with workflow automation or process orchestration (BPMN) is a plus.
- Familiarity with consensus/replication protocols like Raft or SWIM.
- Knowledge of query-pattern optimization for RocksDB, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, and Postgres.
- Solid JVM knowledge including memory model, concurrency, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve the event-sourced engine and its C8 REST/gRPC/MCP API (command/event, CQRS).
- Lead complex technical projects end-to-end, including problem definition, solution design, and cross-team delivery.
- Ship high-impact engine features while simplifying code and maintaining strict quality standards.
- Implement resiliency, schema evolution, and observability to ensure system stability and diagnosability.
- Optimize data access patterns and processing in RocksDB, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, and relational databases.
- Mentor team members, conduct high-quality code reviews, and lead incident resolution and RCA processes.
