Requirements
- 7–15 years of hands-on collections risk management experience.
- Direct experience in a bank or regulated card program and a fintech environment.
- Hands-on familiarity with the full delinquency lifecycle, including DPD bucket management, treatment strategy, and charge-off policy.
- Practical experience managing or working alongside third-party collections agencies, including liquidation and cost-to-collect dynamics.
- Proficiency in SQL and either Python or R, with the ability to build roll rate matrices and recovery forecasts.
- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements including FDCPA, Reg F, and UDAAP.
- Experience applying analytical strategies to SMB collections, including owner-guarantor dynamics.
- Strong quantitative aptitude with a deep understanding of roll rates, cure rates, and recovery curves.
- Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to segment delinquent populations.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end collections risk management across the full delinquency lifecycle from early delinquency through post charge-off recovery.
- Design and refine treatment strategies, contact timing, and channel mix to optimize cure rates.
- Manage vendor and agency relationships, defining strategic boundaries between in-house and third-party placement.
- Establish analytical frameworks for settlement authorization, hardship program management, and litigation referral.
- Develop recovery rate forecasts and track net loss emergence by vintage, segment, and channel.
- Lead periodic collections reviews, presenting delinquency trends and performance metrics to risk committees and senior leadership.
- Partner cross-functionally with credit, legal, compliance, and finance to ensure strategy alignment.
