Requirements
- 8+ years of professional C#/.NET experience
- Proven experience leading or serving as technical anchor on a .NET Framework-to-.NET Core (or later) migration of a large, production monolith
- Experience migrating production systems incrementally with minimal downtime
- Deep experience with NHibernate
- Experience replacing legacy dependencies such as DI containers, bundling frameworks, and unsupported third-party libraries
- Hands-on experience with legacy .NET ecosystem components including ASP.NET MVC routing and custom security frameworks
- Experience improving CI/CD pipelines for .NET applications
- Comfortable working in a small team with shared DevOps and QA support
- Ability to make sound technical decisions and debug hands-on
Responsibilities
- Lead the migration of the Volunteer Impact backend from VB.NET/.NET Framework to C#/.NET 10, defining the migration approach and executing it incrementally against a live production system
- Modernize a custom security framework into the new stack without authorization bypasses
- Strengthen the existing CI/CD pipeline and integrate gates to catch functional and performance regressions
- Ship migrated areas to production independently and incrementally
- Become the second engineer capable of independently cutting, validating, and deploying production releases
- Identify, evaluate, and replace legacy dependencies without introducing regressions
- Determine technical sequencing for migrations, dependency replacements, and automated vs. manual conversion
