Requirements
- Solid academic background in mathematics
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a STEM field (advanced degree preferred)
- Highly skilled and experienced in teaching math at the K-12 levels
- Experienced in teaching via video conferencing software
- Experience teaching AoPS Academy Virtual Campus classes strongly preferred
- Experience training, coaching, and mentoring teachers preferred
- Fast adapter to new operational and educational technologies
- Creative and efficient in solving instructional problems
Responsibilities
- Complete teaching observations of instructors, evaluating their performance and providing coaching and feedback.
- Monitor classes during assigned shifts, ensuring that instructors are meeting our standards and dealing with any urgent issues that may arise.
- Interview candidates for instructor roles.
- Train new instructors and evaluate their readiness to start teaching.
- Teach Virtual Campus classes, including subbing when needed.
- Identify instructor performance concerns that require follow-up.
- Support the creation and delivery of professional development opportunities for instructors.
- Assist the Customer Service team in responding to parent emails relating to instruction.
- Assist the logistical operations at the Virtual Campus.
- Help develop activities and instructional approaches that increase engagement and allow students to do the heavy lifting.
