Requirements

  • PhD in Travel and Tourism, Master’s in Travel and Tourism, or MBA with concentration in Travel and Tourism.
  • Ability to facilitate active virtual learning classrooms.
  • Experience using learning management systems, specifically Blackboard.
  • Commitment to responding to student and staff inquiries within 24-48 hours.
  • Ability to apply Chickering's Seven Principles for Good Practice in Undergraduate Education.
  • Submission of resume/CV, unofficial transcripts, and three professional references with the application.
  • Submission of teaching philosophy, cover letter, and copies of professional licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare assigned courses in Blackboard with required elements by designated deadlines.
  • Review assigned courses to ensure alignment with instructional documents and checklists.
  • Provide 12-15 hours of instruction per week including facilitating discussion, hosting virtual office hours, and grading student work.
  • Host one virtual office hour per week per course section using collaboration tools.
  • Update gradebooks weekly with individualized feedback and monitor at-risk students via the Retention Center.
  • Participate in live and asynchronous faculty meetings and campus-wide recruitment and retention activities.
