Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or a related field preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience managing Short-Term Disability (STD) claims.
- Strong knowledge of disability claims administration, medical terminology, anatomy, and pathology.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations.
- Proven ability to make independent claim decisions with sound judgment and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software applications.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex short-term disability claims from initial review through ongoing case management, making timely and accurate claim determinations.
- Gather, evaluate, and analyze clinical, vocational, financial, and employer information to support informed claim decisions.
- Maintain detailed and accurate claim documentation while developing and updating claim management plans.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, internal policies, and operational quality standards.
- Deliver compassionate, customer-focused service by communicating effectively with claimants, employers, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational excellence and continuous process improvement.
- Mentor and coach less experienced team members while contributing to departmental projects.
