Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in finance operations (non-profit or high-growth startup preferred).
- Understanding of nonprofit and multi-entity accounting, restricted funds, and GAAP compliance.
- Hands-on bookkeeping and accounting experience using QuickBooks.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets.
- Comfort using AI tools and automation to streamline financial processes.
- High agency, ownership, and ability to navigate ambiguity.
- For Manager level: 3+ years experience owning recurring close cycles end to end.
- For Manager level: Experience working directly with external auditors and accounting/bookkeeping providers.
- Nice to have: Experience preparing for nonprofit audit and Form 990.
- Nice to have: Experience implementing or migrating accounting platforms.
Responsibilities
- Review payment requests and disburse payments including honorariums and reimbursements.
- Manage vendor and contractor payment workflows and maintain finance SOPs.
- Oversee Mercury and credit card operations ensuring expense policy compliance.
- Maintain accurate books in QuickBooks Online including journal entries and close cycles.
- Operate and improve AI-assisted finance automations.
- Prepare allocations and schedules for audited financial statements and Form 990.
- Produce monthly financial reports and management accounts.
- Coordinate annual audit and external accountant relationships (Manager level).
- Evaluate and lead potential future migration to more sophisticated accounting software (Manager level).
