Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in animal handling, veterinary services, animal training, shelter work, disaster response, or related fields.
- Ability to safely and humanely handle animals and knowledge of species-specific husbandry practices.
- Completion of FEMA courses IS-100 and IS-200.
- Ability to travel occasionally, sometimes on short notice, for 5+ days at a time.
- Ability to work holidays and outside standard business hours.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- PC proficiency including word processing and internet usage.
- Experience handling animals in distress preferred.
- Experience with Chameleon animal sheltering software preferred.
Responsibilities
- Serve in field and sheltering roles as assigned during large scale animal cruelty or disaster rescues.
- Work with and oversee Animal Rescue Team members and volunteers during rescue, transport, and sheltering operations.
- Implement strategies to accomplish Animal Rescue Team objectives in coordination with management.
- Provide accurate accounting of information for situation reports, animal census, and medical/legal records.
- Maintain animal care equipment and vehicles as assigned.
- Participate in response planning activities and After-Action surveys.
- Contribute to a productive and welcoming environment consistent with organizational values.
