Requirements
- Proven delivery of large distributed systems spanning multiple teams.
- Deep understanding of systems design tradeoffs regarding latency, consistency, availability, scaling, and cost.
- Solid experience with cloud-native architectures including microservices, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Experience defining SLOs/SLIs, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Excellent coding and design skills (Go preferred, or Python/C/C++/Rust).
- Comfort with AI-powered developer tools and integrating them into team workflows.
- Familiarity with messaging systems like Kafka.
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus or Grafana.
- Strong ability to influence stakeholders and drive outcomes in a remote environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Drive technical strategy and roadmap by defining architectural vision and prioritizing product improvements.
- Lead end-to-end delivery, planning, design, and execution of large, cross-functional projects.
- Own architecture, reliability, performance, and cost for critical telemetry database systems.
- Define SLOs/SLIs, lead incident response, and perform blameless post-mortems.
- Improve operational readiness through automation, capacity planning, and telemetry.
- Align stakeholders across Product and Design to negotiate tradeoffs and unblock delivery.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and lead design reviews.
