Requirements
- Proven delivery of large distributed systems spanning multiple teams.
- Strong systems-design instincts with deep understanding of trade-offs regarding latency, consistency, availability, scaling, and cost.
- Solid experience with cloud-native architectures, including microservices, containers, Kubernetes, and IaC.
- Comfortable defining SLOs/SLIs, performing capacity planning, and driving end-to-end reliability.
- Excellent coding and design skills (Go experience preferred; Python, C, C++, or Rust are also applicable).
- Familiarity with streaming/messaging systems such as Kafka.
- Experience with observability tooling like Prometheus or Grafana.
- Comfortable using AI-powered developer tools and integrating them into team workflows.
- Ability to influence without authority and align cross-functional stakeholders.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Drive technical strategy and roadmap by defining architectural vision and prioritizing work that unlocks major product improvements.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of large, cross-functional projects, including planning, design, execution, and operation.
- Own architecture, reliability, performance, and cost for critical telemetry database systems.
- Define SLOs/SLIs, lead incident response, and drive systemic fixes through automation.
- Improve operational readiness by championing telemetry, alerting, and capacity planning efforts.
- Align cross-functional stakeholders and negotiate trade-offs to unblock project delivery.
- Mentor and grow senior and mid-level engineering talent, leading design reviews and raising engineering standards.
